The William IV period spans from approximately 1830 to 1837, acting as a transitional phase between Regency and early Victorian design, characterised by heavy, robust proportions, bold classical motifs, and frequent use of dark imported timbers such as rosewood and mahogany.

These tables typically feature solid timber frames with dense veneers applied to tabletops, supported by a central pillar on a tripartite platform base, often resting on carved paw feet or concealed castors.

Authentic pieces generally display period-specific timber grain patterns, hand-cut joinery, traditional French polish finishes, and heavy, solid construction without modern fixings.

A circular table serves as a functional centrepiece in a dining room or foyer, pairing well with contrasting modern seating to balance historical weight with contemporary clean lines.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying appropriate natural wax polish.
