We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Whieldon type pottery refers to lead-glazed earthenware characterised by mottled oxide colouring, popularised by Thomas Whieldon in 18th-century Staffordshire, though similar styles continued into the 19th century.

These items were crafted from local earthenware clay, hand-modelled or moulded, and finished with metallic oxide glazessuch as manganese and copperapplied under a clear lead glaze to create the characteristic mottled effect before firing.

Authenticity is determined by examining the body paste, glaze crazing, wear patterns on the base, manufacturing flaws typical of early kilns, and the characteristic depth and fluidity of the oxide coloration.

Position the piece as a focal point on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or side table where its sculptural silhouette and historical texture can be appreciated against a neutral backdrop.

Dust gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid immersion in water, harsh chemical cleaners, or placing the piece in direct sunlight to protect the historic glaze.
