Georgian furniture spans the reigns of the first four Georges, characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and the adoption of imported timbers such as mahogany following the repeal of import duties.

Pieces from this era frequently utilized solid mahogany or pine with mahogany veneers, incorporating hand-cut dovetail joints in drawer construction and traditional wood turning for legs.

Authentic items display period-correct tool marks, hand-forged or early cast iron fixings, natural timber shrinkage patterns, and genuine patina developed through extensive age and use.

A period wooden table brings warmth and textural contrast to contemporary spaces, serving as a functional surface in a hallway, living room, or study alongside minimalist art and lighting.

Preservation requires keeping wooden items away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, applying microcrystalline wax periodically, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.
