FAQs

French farmhouse dining tables originated in rural France, traditionally crafted by local artisans from regionally sourced timber to serve as the central gathering place for daily family life and meal preparation.

These tables are traditionally constructed from heavy solid timbers such as French oak or chestnut, employing traditional joinery techniques like mortise and tenon to ensure long-term durability and structural stability.

Authentic period pieces typically exhibit signs of age-related wear, hand-cut joinery marks, wood shrinkage, and a natural patina developed over decades of use, distinguishing them from modern reproductions.

Pairing a rustic wooden table with minimalist seating or industrial lighting creates a balanced contrast that anchors a modern dining room while adding warmth and historical texture.

Preserve antique oak by dusting with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and maintaining consistent indoor humidity levels to prevent the timber from drying out or splitting.
