FAQs

A Georgian tripod table is a small occasional table featuring a circular top supported by a central pillar and three legs, popular during the 18th century for serving tea or displaying items.

These tables were typically crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, often utilising Cuban mahogany due to its rich grain and durability.

Authentic pieces often display period-appropriate joinery, traditional hand-turned pillars, dovetail joints where applicable, and natural patina consistent with age and historic use.

It can be positioned beside a sofa or in an empty corner to function as a compact surface for lamps or books, adding warmth and historical contrast to contemporary spaces.

Preservation involves keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources, avoiding chemical polishes, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the finish.
