Wine tables emerged during the 18th century in Britain to hold glassware, bottles, or candles safely near seating areas during social gatherings.

They are typically constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany, featuring a turned central column supported by three curved legs and joined with traditional timber joints.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-carved details, natural timber ageing, and subtle patination rather than uniform modern finishes.

This piece functions effectively as a compact surface next to a sofa or armchair, providing a functional display space that contrasts with modern furnishings.

Preserve the timber finish by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, avoiding direct sunlight, and occasionally applying appropriate natural beeswax.
