Georgian console tables are characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and the predominant use of imported hardwoods such as mahogany, often featuring delicate carving or brass hardware.

Master craftsmen typically utilised solid mahogany and secondary timbers like pine or oak for drawer linings, combined with hand-cut dovetail joints and cast brass handles.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-tooled joinery, timber grain patterns, natural oxidisation, and the presence of historical tool marks rather than modern machine fabrication.

Positioning a period timber table against a neutral wall provides a striking contrast, allowing it to function as a focal point in a contemporary hallway or living space.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a dry lint-free cloth, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying quality beeswax to nourish the wood grain.
