This 19th century Meissen porcelain urn, dating from around 1880, is styled in the neoclassical revival manner. The white porcelain body is embellished with a continuous hand-painted band of botanical violets in shades of purple and green, complemented by twin gilt scroll handles and gilded accents on the fluted pedestal base and flared rim. The glaze is glossy and smooth, the decorative band is sharply rendered, and the base displays painted factory marks. Measuring 28.5 cm high, 17.8 cm wide and 17.8 cm deep, this piece makes a refined addition to a sideboard top in a dining room, living room or hallway. Placed within a modern interior, this ornamental urn serves as a striking focal point on a wooden sideboard or display console. The classical silhouette and vibrant floral motif suit traditional or French chateau decorative schemes, drawing the eye with its detailed craftsmanship and metallic gilding. It functions purely as a decorative object rather than a utilitarian vessel, bringing colour and period character to domestic spaces without requiring permanent installation.

Produced in Saxony, Germany, Meissen porcelain from this period is recognised for high-firing hard-paste porcelain, precise hand-painted botanical motifs, and decorative gilt accents influenced by Neoclassical forms.

These urns were constructed from hard-paste porcelain made of kaolin and feldspar, decorated with hand-applied mineral enamel paints and detailed liquid or leaf gilding before final firing.

Authentic pieces typically feature the underglaze blue crossed swords manufacturer mark on the base, along with incised model numbers, painter numbers, and finely executed enamelling.

Position the vessel on a marble sideboard, mantelpiece, or console table to serve as a focal point alongside contemporary neutral decor or traditional dark wood cabinetry.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid chemical cleaners or submersion in water, as moisture can degrade delicate gilding and cold-painted enamels over time.
