Instruments such as the marimbaphone gained popularity during the early 1900s for use in orchestras, parlour music, and early recording sessions, combining tuned metal or wooden bars with resonant chambers.

These instruments were typically constructed using solid hardwoods such as oak or mahogany for the frames, paired with brass or steel tuned bars and internal metal resonators.

Authenticity is generally identified through period joinery techniques, aged patination on the metal components, hand-carved wooden details, and maker marks or serial numbers stamped into the frame.

An antique instrument can be displayed as an architectural focal point on a console table or within a dedicated music room, blending historical craftsmanship with eclectic contemporary decor.

Preservation involves keeping the piece in a stable environment away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, gently dusting the wooden frame with a dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes on the metal.
