FAQs

Georgian treen encompasses a wide variety of small, hand-turned wooden household objects produced during the Georgian era, prized for both utility and craftsmanship.

These domestic items were typically turned from dense hardwoods such as boxwood, fruitwood, or lignum vitae, often featuring fitted blades or inserts made from bone or steel.

Authenticity is determined by tool marks consistent with hand-turning on a pole lathe, natural patination, wear patterns, and the specific density and ageing of the wood and bone components.

This piece can be displayed as a cabinet curiosity, on open kitchen shelving, or within a wooden display bowl to highlight its sculptural form and historic materiality.

Treen should be kept away from direct sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations, and moisture, maintaining its condition with occasional applications of neutral beeswax.
