Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The Georgian style spans the reigns of the first four British monarchs named George, characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and the transition from walnut to mahogany as the preferred timber.

Master cabinetmakers predominantly utilised dense imported mahogany, often incorporating secondary woods such as oak or pine for internal framing and drawer linings.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting traditional joinery methods, such as hand-cut dovetails, genuine patina, oxidisation consistent with age, and period-appropriate hardware and timber markings.

Pairing a historic dark wood table with contemporary seating or minimalist decor creates a sophisticated contrast that highlights the rich grain and craftsmanship of the piece.

Maintain antique timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat it periodically with traditional beeswax to nourish the wood and protect the finish.
