FAQs

Georgian tea tables gained immense popularity during the 18th century as tea drinking transformed from an exclusive luxury into a central social ritual for the British elite.

These tables were typically constructed from solid and veneered mahogany, often enhanced with boxwood stringing, satinwood inlay, and mortise and tenon joints.

Authenticity is assessed through hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage patterns, period-appropriate secondary woods, and traditional cabinet-making techniques characteristic of the 18th and early 19th centuries.

An antique tea table functions effectively as a slim console against a hallway wall or as an occasional surface in a living room, adding historic depth and tactile warmth to contemporary spaces.

Maintain mahogany furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heating vents, dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the finish.
