Two large decorative panels with floral inlays to either side of the board. The hinged lid lifts to reveal the fitted satinwood interior with a large variety of differing sized segmented storage areas. Combined games and work tables gained popularity during the late 18th and early 19th centuries as multifunctional furniture designed for leisure and domestic crafts like sewing and embroidery.

These tables were typically constructed from fine hardwoods such as mahogany, maple, and walnut, often featuring intricate marquetry, veneer work, and turned or lyre-shaped pedestal supports.

Authentication relies on examining timber ageing, hand-cut dovetail joints in drawers, traditional joinery methods, and the quality of the hand-inlaid wood rather than modern printed veneers.

Such a versatile piece works well as a statement accent item in a study, drawing room, or living space, pairing effectively with both traditional decor and minimalist modern furnishings.

Keep the wood conditioned using appropriate wax polishes, avoid placing the item in direct sunlight or near heat sources to prevent timber cracking, and protect surfaces from moisture.
