A superb antique Edwardian inlaid parquetry occasional side table. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1900-1910 period.

It is of fine quality, the circular top has stunning inlaid parquetry designs in the centre, with an inlaid border of satin wood and mahogany banding. It stands on tapered mahogany legs with spade feet, and a cross stretchered base.

We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is excellent, with just some extremely minor wear and patina.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often draws inspiration from earlier Georgian and Sheraton revivals, favouring lighter proportions, graceful lines, and delicate inlay work compared to the heavy ornamentation of the Victorian era.

These tables are traditionally constructed from fine cabinet woods such as mahogany, satinwood, or walnut, featuring geometric wood veneer patterns known as parquetry or string inlay applied by skilled craftspeople.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate construction methods, such as hand-cut dovetails where applicable, natural aging of the wood and varnish, hand-applied stringing, and subtle wear consistent with early 20th-century manufacture.

An antique occasional table can be integrated into modern schemes by using it as a contrasting textural element alongside minimalist seating, or by placing a simple ceramic lamp or botanical arrangement on top.

Preserve the finish by keeping the table out of direct sunlight, avoiding excessive moisture or heat fluctuations, and periodically applying a quality microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood.
