Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Refectory tables originated in medieval monasteries, where they were used in the dining hall, known as the refectory, to accommodate large communities for meals.

These tables are traditionally constructed from heavy hardwoods, predominantly oak, featuring thick plank tops supported by trestle bases connected by a central stretcher beam.

Authentic pieces are identified through traditional joinery methods, such as pegged mortise and tenon joints, natural timber ageing, and hand-planed surface textures.

A refectory table can be grounded in contemporary spaces by pairing it with contrasting modern seating, minimalist lighting, or placing it within an open-plan kitchen or dining area.

Preservation involves dusting with a dry cloth, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity, and occasionally treating the timber with traditional beeswax to maintain the finish.
