A graphoscope is an optical device popular in the Victorian era, specifically the 19th century, designed for viewing photographs, stereoviews, and engravings with magnification.

They were typically crafted from fine woods such as burr walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, featuring brass hardware and a large glass convex lens.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery, hand-polished wood veneers, genuine glass lenses with bevelled edges, and functional folding mechanical stands.

It can be displayed open on a desk, bookshelf, or side table as a sculptural conversation piece that highlights historical scientific craftsmanship.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth, apply microcrystalline wax sparingly to protect the wood finish, and clean the optical glass with a lint-free cloth without harsh chemicals.
