Plymouth porcelain refers to hard-paste ceramic wares manufactured at a short-lived factory in Plymouth, England, established by William Cookworthy between 1768 and 1770 before production moved to Bristol.

Plymouth porcelain is historically significant as the first English factory to successfully produce true hard-paste porcelain, utilising Cornish kaolin (china clay) and petuntse (china stone).

Authentic pieces often exhibit characteristic fire cracks, kiln dust adhesion, and unglazed foot rims, occasionally marked with the chemical sign for tin or other early factory identifiers.

An antique porcelain vessel can be displayed as a focal point on a mantlepiece or within a glass-fronted cabinet, allowing its historic craftsmanship to contrast with contemporary decor.

Antique porcelain should be hand-washed gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent when necessary, avoiding abrasive materials, dishwashers, and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
