We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Georgian and Regency furniture is characterised by classical proportions, refined cabinetry, and the use of dense timbers such as mahogany, often incorporating architectural details inspired by classical antiquity.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods, joined using traditional hand-cut dovetails, mortise and tenon joints, and finished with beeswax.

Authentic items typically display period-appropriate joinery, hand-turned elements, aged brass castors, genuine patination on the timber, and tool marks consistent with manual woodworking rather than modern machinery.

Such a table functions effectively as a console against a hallway wall or as an accent piece in a living room, where its rich wood tones contrast well with neutral modern colour palettes and minimalist decor.

Preserve the finish by keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying a pure beeswax polish to nourish the wood.
