Treen refers to small, functional wooden domestic objects made before the widespread use of plastics and modern manufacturing, often hand-turned on a lathe.

English makers utilised native hardwoods such as ash, boxwood, sycamore, and fruitwoods like plum and pear due to their dense grain and suitability for turning.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-turned tool marks, natural beeswax patination, shrinkage cracks consistent with age, and construction methods typical of pre-industrial workshops.

Antique treen introduces organic warmth and texture, and works effectively when grouped on open shelving, sideboards, or coffee tables alongside ceramics and books.

Maintain antique wooden items by keeping them away from direct heat sources and applying microcrystalline wax or food-safe mineral oil periodically to nourish the dry grain.
