The Georgian era, spanning the reigns of George I through George IV, is characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and the transition from walnut to mahogany as the primary timber.

These tables were typically constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over secondary woods like pine or oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged joints, and solid turned or tapered legs.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery, natural timber shrinkage, hand-forged or early brass fixings, and an aged patina resulting from decades of waxing and use.

Pairing a period wooden table with modern seating creates a balanced, eclectic aesthetic that highlights the craftsmanship of the antique while maintaining a fresh living space.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood.
