Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

A low boy is a small table with one or more drawers, originating in the late 17th century during the William and Mary period, commonly used as a dressing table or side table.

Authentic period low boys were predominantly crafted from native British timbers such as oak, walnut, or fruitwood, often featuring secondary woods like pine or elm for drawer linings.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, hand-forged iron or brass fixings, and natural patination accumulated over centuries of use.

An antique low boy functions effectively as an entryway console or a bedside table, contrasting clean modern walls and minimalist decor with rich historical texture and warm wood tones.

Preserve antique oak by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations, periodically feeding the wood with high-quality beeswax while avoiding modern silicone-based polishes.
