FAQs

Art Deco furniture emerged in the early 20th century, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and a departure from heavy Victorian ornamentation in favour of modernity.

Craftsmen of this period frequently utilised solid hardwoods like oak, walnut, and mahogany, often complemented by exotic veneers, chrome accents, and contrasting inlay work.

Authentic pieces typically feature period-accurate joinery, original hardware such as stepped handles or key escutcheons, and structural symmetry reflective of 1920s and 1930s design principles.

Position the piece alongside minimalist modern seating to create a striking contrast, allowing its geometric lines and wood grain to serve as a focal point.

Maintain the finish by keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood.
