This nest of three walnut tables belongs to the Louis XVI Revival style of 1910. Each rectangular table top displays geometric parquetry inlay in warm brown tones, bordered by a brass banded edge. The largest table features gilt ormolu mounts on the frieze, while all three tables are supported by slender turned tapered legs with further brass mounts. Arched stretchers unite the supports, which lead down to short swept splayed feet decorated with gilt details. The tables measure 71 cm high, 56 cm wide, and 38 cm deep. In a modern home, this set provides versatile occasional surface space. The tables slide neatly together to save floor space when not in use, or they can be separated and placed around a room. They suit placement at the end of a sofa in a living room, or as side tables in a study or hallway, where the warm wood tones and decorative brass accents complement traditional and classic interior schemes.

A nest of tables is a set of small graduated tables that stack neatly beneath one another to save space when not in use. They became widely popular during the late eighteenth century as flexible social entertaining required easily movable surface space.

Traditional parquetry tables feature solid wood frames, such as walnut, mahogany, or oak, topped with contrasting wood veneers like rosewood, satinwood, or boxwood arranged in geometric patterns. Accent pieces often include gilt-bronze or brass mounts.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery, signs of natural age-related wood movement, original finish wear beneath the frames, and handmade metal fittings. The undersides often reveal hand-sawn tool marks and period construction techniques.

A nest of tables can be placed beside seating as space-saving accent furniture, fully stacked for a compact footprint, or stepped outward to create tiered display surfaces for books, lamps, and decorative objects.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply high-grade beeswax twice a year along the grain. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the thin timber veneers from drying out or lifting.
