A Regency mahogany coaster is a small, round tray or stand traditionally used during the 19th century to hold wine bottles or decanters, protecting polished dining tables from rings and spills.

These items are typically crafted from solid tropical hardwoods like Cuban or Honduras mahogany, frequently featuring turned wooden bases, carved details, and sometimes inset baize or felt on the underside.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-carving characteristics, natural patination, and dense timber weight consistent with early 19th-century manufacturing methods.

This piece can be utilised on a sideboard or coffee table to display small decorative objects, hold pillar candles, or serve as a catch-all for everyday accessories.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and periodically applying a microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood without building up excessive residue.
