Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

The Georgian style spans the reigns of the first four Georges, characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and a transition from heavier walnut to lighter mahogany woods influenced by designers like Chippendale and Sheraton.

Authentic pieces typically feature solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over secondary hardwoods like oak or pine, joined using traditional dovetail construction for drawers and hand-cut mortise and tenon joints.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut joinery, period-appropriate timber ageing, hand-forged or cast brass hardware, and subtle tool marks left by hand-planing rather than modern machinery.

Mixing period items with contemporary minimalist decor creates a curated look, allowing the warm wood tones and clean lines of historical furniture to anchor a modern room.

Preserve the finish by keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and maintain the wood using natural beeswax rather than modern silicone-based polishes.
