Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Enamel advertising signs, also known as porcelain enamel or vitreous enamel signs, became popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were widely used by brands to promote goods on shopfronts, railway stations, and exterior walls due to their weather-resistant properties and vibrant colours.

These signs were manufactured by fusing powdered glass to a heavy sheet metal substrate, typically iron or steel, at extremely high temperatures. This created a durable, glossy surface that resisted fading from sunlight and damage from harsh weather.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit genuine age markers such as porcelain chipping around the mounting holes, rust along the edges, heavy steel construction, and multi-layered screen-printed or stencil-fired graphics rather than modern flat digital prints.

Large advertising signs are frequently mounted directly onto exposed brick or neutral plastered walls to create a striking focal point. Their industrial textures and bold graphics complement loft spaces, kitchens, and contemporary living areas.

Maintenance involves gentle cleaning with a soft cloth and mild soapy water to remove dust and grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scrubbing, as these can damage the glossy porcelain finish and accelerate corrosion on exposed metal edges.
