Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent timber fading, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the polished wood surface.

Such pieces can be repurposed in modern settings as side tables, sculptural storage units, or plant stands, introducing historic character and rich wood tones to living spaces.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber grain, hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass hardware, internal lead or zinc linings, and natural patina indicative of 18th-century cabinet making techniques.

They were typically crafted from dense timbers such as mahogany or oak, frequently featuring lead linings to hold ice and water safely, alongside brass bands and drop handles for structural integrity and transport.

Georgian wine coolers, often referred to as cellarettes, were essential dining room furnishings during the 18th and early 19th centuries, designed to hold bottles and ice to keep wine chilled before it was served at the table.
