An Edwardian Royal Worcester Hadley boat shape bowl, dating from the period around 1910, exemplifies classic porcelain craftsmanship in an English Country House style. The piece presents a lemon yellow porcelain body with bright hand-painted red and yellow roses, complemented by a beaded rim detail, gilt scroll handles, and a footed pedestal base accented in gold. Rich painted flora covers the curved exterior surface, rising towards scrolling handles at each end and resting on decorative feet below. Measuring 15 cm high, 30.5 cm wide, and 13.5 cm deep, the bowl sits ideally on a sideboard top or display console. Placed in a modern interior, it functions as a decorative centrepiece, bringing traditional floral motifs and hand-painted artistry to a living room, dining room, or entrance hall setting.

Established in 1751 in Worcester, England, Royal Worcester is one of the oldest surviving English porcelain brands. The factory gained renown for its soft-paste and hard-paste porcelain vessels, particularly those decorated with intricate hand-painted floral and botanical studies produced during the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

This piece is crafted from fine bone china or soft-paste porcelain, finished with an overglaze floral painting technique. The decorative handles, feet, and rim feature raised relief moulding enhanced with gilded accents applied using liquid gold.

Authentic items feature official factory backmarks stamped on the base, often including a printed crown and circle emblem with a date letter or dot system underneath. Many hand-painted pieces also carry the artists signature or initials near the main design motif.

Position the bowl as a focal point on a dark wood sideboard, marble console, or glass coffee table to contrast modern textures. It can remain empty as an accent piece or be used to hold decorative dry elements.

Dust gently using a clean, soft microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush around raised mouldings. Avoid submerging in water, applying abrasive chemical cleaners, or placing in a dishwasher, as these methods can strip gilt detailing and painted glazes.
