A Two Minton Cherub Compote,1873,Rare.

A Minton Cherub Compote ( sweetmeat dish), modelled as a shell shaped dish supported by a cherub riding on the back of a dolphin,glazed and tinted with sage green, on a shell moulded base, impressed with factory marks and ''1003'' to base.
 
Also a similar Minton Cherub Compote (shell damaged and repaired);
 
Combination white and mint green porcelain in the form of a cherub riding a dolphin on an oval base ringed with shells, and carrying a large shell on his back. Impressed marks on the underside. Date mark for 1873.
 
Minton was one of the pioneers of English china production alongside other great potters such as Spode, Davenport, Ridgway, Coalport and others. They were located in Staffordshire and were known specifically for their wonderfully fine white bone china and bright colors; there is a color called ''Minton Blue'' which is a fresh azure blue that Minton excelled in.
