FAQs

The Regency style, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1830, draws heavy inspiration from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian antiquity, characterised by clean architectural proportions, dark timbers such as mahogany, and restrained brass ornamentation.

Drum tables are typically constructed using dense hardwoods like solid and veneered mahogany, featuring a circular top often inset with tooled leather, mounted on a central pillar supported by a tripod or quadruped base.

Authenticity is determined by examining traditional joinery such as hand-cut dovetails in the drawers, the presence of old secondary timbers like oak or pine, hand-turned brass hardware, and natural timber patination consistent with age.

An antique drum table functions effectively as a central freestanding centrepiece in a home office, library, or living room, pairing well with minimalist modern seating to create a balanced contrast of eras.

Maintain mahogany using microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood without leaving residue, and clean inset leather gently with a dry or barely damp cloth, avoiding harsh chemical solvents.
