C19th rosewood rectangular lamp or occasional table with inlaid specimen wood top .
Smart rosewood table of free-standing form , fitted with a frieze drawer to one side and a ‘dummy’ drawer to verso , both fitted with original turned knob pulls. The cross-banded edge top with quarter-veneered centre panel with a central circular compass design in specimen wood veneers, flanked by rectangular panels of cubic or ‘tumbling block’ design. The veneers including ‘bird’s-eye’ maple , satinwood and mahogany.
Raised on a tapering facetted column onto a concave-sided base with compressed bun feet .
A decorative and practical table in excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina.
