We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco compacts from the 1920s and 1930s are characterised by geometric shapes, stylised motifs, symmetrical designs, and a strong emphasis on modernity, often incorporating contrasting materials like enamel, metal, and plastics.

These vanity items were typically constructed from base metals such as brass or gilt-bronze, frequently finished with enamel, chrome plating, silver tone, or inset panels of mother-of-pearl, tortoise shell, or synthetic resins like Bakelite.

Authenticity is determined by examining maker marks, patent numbers, or brand signatures usually stamped inside the lid or on the sifter, alongside period-appropriate manufacturing techniques, hinge construction, and wear patterns consistent with age.

These small collectables can be displayed as miniature objets dart on vanity trays, glass-topped coffee tables, or inside bookshelf displays to add a touch of historical elegance and refined geometry to contemporary spaces.

Preservation involves keeping items away from direct sunlight and high humidity, handling them gently by the edges to avoid transferring skin oils, and cleaning them only with a soft, dry microfibre cloth without using harsh chemical polishes.
