This 18th century Georgian occasional table is made from mahogany with a warm brown timber finish and a tilt-top mechanism. The circular top is shown flipped vertically, supported by a turned and carved central column above three cabriole legs with pad feet. The wood displays natural grain variations across the large one-piece circular surface. Overall, the table stands 71 cm high, with a width of 79 cm and a depth of 79 cm. Designed with a revolving birdcage mechanism, this piece suits placement at the end of a sofa or as an occasional table in a living space. It offers a practical surface for everyday activities such as jigsaw puzzles, folding away compactly when the top is tilted upright. The traditional English country house style blends easily into both period and contemporary interiors.

Emerging during the 18th century, a tilt-top tripod table features a circular top mounted on a central pillar supported by three cabriole legs, designed with a hinged mechanism to tilt vertically for compact storage when not in use.

These tables are traditionally constructed from solid mahogany, featuring a hand-turned central column, a square birdcage or block swivel mechanism, and hand-carved legs ending in pad or claw-and-ball feet.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut brass latches, hand-planed undersides, natural patination around the base and legs, and asymmetrical shrinkage marks across the circular top.

Position the table beside an armchair as an occasional drinks surface, or store it vertically against a wall or in an alcove to display the grain of the mahogany top.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft microfibre cloth, applying beeswax sparingly once per year, and shielding the timber from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or fading.
