Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Card and games tables gained prominence during the 18th century across Britain and Europe as social gaming became a central leisure activity among the nobility. Crafted with hinged tops that folded closed when not in use, these tables served as elegant side or console tables in drawing rooms between gaming sessions.

Traditional construction relies on solid hardwood frames covered in figured burr walnut veneers, often features hand-carved cabriole legs, and incorporates gate-leg or swing-leg mechanisms to support the hinged leaf. The interior playing surface was typically fitted with felt or wool baize.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, original wooden swing hinges or iron card-table hinges, natural surface patination, and hand-carved decorative motifs such as acanthus leaves or ball-and-claw feet.

Positioned against a wall when folded, a demilune card table serves as a hallway console or living room accent table beneath a mirror or artwork. The table can be opened into a full circular or square surface to accommodate modern board games or intimate drinks service.

Maintain walnut veneers by dusting regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and applying a quality beeswax polish twice yearly along the grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and high humidity to prevent veneer lifting or timber shrinkage.
