Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A gueridon is a small, circular occasional table originating in 17th-century France. Historically designed to hold candelabra, vases, or small decorative items, gueridons often feature decorative column legs, lower shelves, and high-quality materials like mahogany, marble, and gilt metal.

Craftsmen commonly used fine woods such as mahogany, rosewood, or kingwood for the frame, paired with inset marble or scagliola tops. High-end pieces feature finely chased gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, decorative porcelain or jasperware medallions, and pierced metal galleries.

Authentic pieces from prominent 19th-century French cabinetmakers frequently bear a stamped signature on the timber or bronze mounts. Look for exceptionally fine casting and chasing on the ormolu, precise joinery, original gilding patina, and heavy solid wood or veneered construction consistent with Paris workshops of the period.

An antique gueridon functions as a versatile accent piece alongside contemporary upholstery. Place it next to a modern armchair or sofa, positioning a small table lamp or sculptural object on top while keeping the surrounding decor minimal to let the intricate detail stand out.

Dust wood surfaces regularly with a clean, soft microfibre cloth and apply beeswax sparingly along the grain. Avoid chemical polishes or water on gilt-bronze mounts, as moisture can damage original gilded finishes; light dusting with a soft dry brush is recommended to preserve the patina.
