FAQs

Royal Crown Derby is one of the oldest porcelain manufacturers in England, holding royal warrants dating back to the 18th century, renowned for its high quality bone china and distinctive Imari patterns.

Pieces from this era were typically crafted from a mixture of bone ash, china clay, and china stone, then hand-painted or transfer-printed with rich enamel colours and finished with gilded accents.

Authenticity is verified through underglaze factory backstamps, such as the crown and D monogram, often accompanied by pattern numbers and painters ciphers characteristic of the specific decade.

An antique service can be displayed within a glass-fronted cabinet as a focal point or used selectively for special dining occasions to add historical texture and elegance to a contemporary table setting.

Antique porcelain with gold leaf should always be hand-washed using mild detergent and warm water, avoiding dishwashers, abrasive sponges, and prolonged soaking to protect the delicate enamels and gilding.
