Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian work table is a specialized piece of nineteenth-century occasional furniture designed primarily for storage and execution of needlework, embroidery, and small writing tasks. These tables typically incorporate shallow drawers, lower fabric wells or wooden boxes, and decorative support bases.

Victorian cabinetmakers frequently used dense hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, and walnut. Decorative components were often enhanced with carved supports, brass castors, silk or velvet linings for sewing compartments, and fine veneers.

Authentic pieces feature distinctive design characteristics of the mid-to-late nineteenth century, such as turned barley-twist supports, splayed legs, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, and brass castors. Look for genuine age-related wear, natural patination on the rosewood grain, and period-correct hardware.

A Victorian work table functions well as a side table beside a sofa or reading chair. Its compact size makes it suitable for narrow hallways, alcoves, or beneath a window to hold desk lamps and decorative objects.

Maintain Victorian rosewood by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage, grain checking, and colour bleaching.
