Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dresden porcelain refers to fine hard-paste porcelain created by artisan workshops in and around Dresden, Germany, starting in the mid-19th century. Renowned for elaborate hand-painted decoration, gilding, and expressive figure modelling, Dresden became synonymous with highly ornate decorative ceramics.

Dresden figurines were handcrafted from hard-paste porcelain, moulded, and kiln-fired at elevated temperatures. Craftsmen then applied hand-painted overglaze enamels and gold leaf accents before a final low-temperature glaze firing to fix the colours.

Authentic Dresden items generally bear distinct blue underglaze factory marks, such as Carl Thiemes Potschappel mark featuring a crown and letters or crossed lines. In addition, genuine period items exhibit precise hand-painted enamelling, detailed gilding, and sharp modelling standard for late 19th- to early 20th-century German workshops.

Place larger porcelain animal figures on a console table, sideboard, or within a styled bookcase to create a focal point. Combining historical porcelain with contemporary minimalist furniture adds visual texture and character through contrasting styles.

Clean porcelain using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or dry feather duster to remove surface dust. Avoid liquid immersion or abrasive household cleaners, as moisture and harsh chemicals can damage fragile hand-painted enamel and gilded details over time.
