Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian bath taps are distinguished by their heavy cast-metal construction, long threaded pillars, and cross-head or four-spoke star handles. They were engineered during the late nineteenth century for high-pressure gravity-fed water systems and typically feature raised ceramic or porcelain index buttons denoting hot and cold.

Period taps were predominantly cast in solid brass or bronze, often left unlacquered or finished with a nickel coating in later decades. Internal jumper valves and spindles were turned from copper alloys, while decorative indices were made from glazed ceramic or porcelain.

Authentic nineteenth-century taps feature heavy solid cast brass construction, visible casting lines, and hand-cut British Standard Pipe (BSP) threads. Original pieces usually carry manufacturer stamps or foundry marks near the valve body and exhibit natural age-related patination or historic tool marks.

Restored Victorian brass taps can be mounted onto cast iron roll-top baths, marble vanity tops, or porcelain butler sinks to add contrast within modern wet rooms or traditional bathrooms. Pairing polished brass hardware with neutral stone tiles or dark paint schemes creates a cohesive design aesthetic.

Unlacquered brass taps require routine wiping with a microfibre cloth and gentle soap to remove water spots. To preserve a high shine, polish periodically with a dedicated metal cleaner, or allow the surface to oxidize naturally over time to develop an antique patina.
