Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of fully restored Victorian bath taps brings period character to a modern or traditional bathroom. Each tap has a polished gold brass body, a curved spout, and a traditional crosshead handle topped with a central ceramic button. The turned stems include decorative mouldings above the hexagonal tightening nuts, and the lower sections terminate in long threaded mounting tails designed to secure through a bath deck. Signs of age include faint surface marks and patination on the warm metallic finish. Measuring 21.5 cm high, 12 cm wide, and 12 cm deep, these utilitarian fixtures are suitable for installation on a roll-top or fitted bathtub. Bath taps of this Victorian style complement period bathroom renovations, country house projects, and heritage interior schemes. The functional design incorporates standard plumbing fittings paired with ornamental turn-of-the-century aesthetics. The matching set offers a cohesive look when mounted to a twin-hole bath configuration. Careful restoration preserves the authentic silhouette while ensuring everyday usability in contemporary domestic settings.

FAQs

Victorian bath taps are individual hot and cold pillar taps manufactured from cast brass, featuring distinct crosshead or wheel handles and long threaded tails for deck mounting.

Original nineteenth-century taps were constructed from solid cast brass, often finished with polished raw brass or nickel plating, and finished with white ceramic indices marked for hot and cold.

Authentic period taps feature heavy solid brass construction, cast manufacturing marks or maker stamps, imperial thread sizing, and original internal screw mechanism threading.

Solid brass taps can be fitted to cast iron roll-top baths or ceramic console basins to serve as characterful focal points in both period restorations and modern heritage interiors.

Unlacquered brass fittings should be cleaned regularly with a mild soap solution and polished using a specialized metal polish to remove surface oxidisation and maintain a bright finish.
