This French Art Deco centre table dates from around 1930 and exemplifies modernist design of the period. The piece uses dark brown Macassar ebony veneer across its octagonal top and structural elements, complemented by a central drawer fitted with a clear faceted glass knob. Additional functional extensions flank the central compartment, while the lower construction incorporates an anodised silvered green metal plinth resting upon spherical supports. Measuring 73 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 64 cm deep, the table stands on a stepped faceted pedestal base. It functions as a decorative and practical standalone furniture item within a living room, hallway, or study, providing surface area and enclosed storage within interior settings today.

Art Deco Modernist tables from the 1930s combine sleek geometric forms with exotic timber veneers, transitioning from earlier ornate decorative styles to streamlined, architectural silhouettes.

Craftsmen frequently employed rich timber veneers such as Macassar ebony, walnut, and rosewood, often paired with silvered bases, polished metal details, or moulded glass hardware.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-matched exotic wood veneers, solid hardwood drawer linings, balanced geometric proportions, and period-correct hardware such as cut glass or nickel pulls.

A geometric centre table serves as a structural focal point in a contemporary foyer or entrance hall, anchoring the space when styled beneath a dramatic light fixture.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish periodically, avoiding direct sunlight and harsh chemical solvents to protect the fine grain.
