A Very Fine Arita Kakiemon Style Large Blue And White Dish, Dating To The Early 18th Century

For sale this magnificent Arita Kakiemon style large dish, dating to the early 18th century. With a diameter of approx. 36.2cm and approx. 5.5cm deep the dish is very well painted with a sage and attendant by a riverbank in a mountainous landscape. Two birds on a Prunus tree, Bamboo and clouds. Similar design dishes of this size are recorded, see page 116 plate 143 Japanese export porcelain , Catalogue collection in the Ashmolean Museum Oxford, by Oliver Impey, also another in the Shibata Collection page 209 item no 1658, and another with a similar centre section in the Barry Davies Oliver Impey collection page 97 item 47. Some glaze crazing as shown in the pics and two hairline cracks. No restoration. A very fine piece.
