Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Gesteckpfeife is a traditional multi-piece German tobacco pipe comprising a separate bowl, wind cap, stem, and mouthpiece. Designed to produce a cool smoke, these pipes were popular across German-speaking regions during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

These pipes were constructed using dense hardwoods such as cherry wood or briar, along with carved horn, bone, porcelain, and metal fittings. Stems frequently incorporated turned or carved barley twist sections alongside natural bone connectors.

Authentic period examples display hand-turned wood joinery, hand-carved detail on the bowl and stem, and fitted bone or horn ferrules. The presence of threaded or friction-fit sections allowed the pipe to be disassembled for cleaning.

Elongated carved pipes are best displayed using dedicated wall mounts, resting flat along a mantelpiece, or styled upright within a bookshelf display in a study or library setting.

Dust the timber gently with a dry, lint-free cloth and maintain any bone or horn accents with a light application of mineral oil. Avoid moisture, direct sunlight, and heat sources to prevent the wood from cracking or warping.
