The Hand Holding the Bowl is Exceptionally Well Carved as is the Stem which has Bone Fittings and is Finished with a Horn Mouthpiece Possibly a Display Piece for a Tobacconists Circa 1880. This large German smoking pipe originates from 1880 in the Bavarian Folk Art style. The dark brown piece is built in a modular assembly from wood, bone, and horn. The composition features a hand-carved wooden bowl shaped as a hand holding the bowl, a spiralled barley twist stem, contrasting white bone spacers, and a curved horn mouthpiece.
