Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III serving tables date from the reign of King George III (17601820) and are characterised by balanced classical proportions, dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, and refined carved detailing such as gadrooning, fluting, or acanthus leaves.

Cabinetmakers during this period predominantly utilised solid and veneered mahogany for its durability and rich grain. Internal structural components were typically crafted from native softwoods or oak, held together with hand-cut dovetail and mortise-and-tenon joinery.

Authentic period pieces exhibit signs of age such as shrinkage cracks along construction seams, uneven hand-sawn wood under surfaces, and natural patination. Look for hand-carved edge mouldings rather than machine-cut borders, along with original timber oxidation on unvarnished areas.

A Georgian mahogany server functions exceptionally well as an entryway console or a focal table in a dining room. Pairing the dark mahogany against muted contemporary wall shades creates a grounded visual anchor without overwhelming the space.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish twice a year to nourish the wood finish. Position the table away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber warp and lacquer degradation.
