Late C19th/early C20th Edwardian inlaid mahogany centre table of unusual form . High quality octagonal centre table of Moorish influence and unusual form and format . Eight-sided 2-tier table with floral/arabesque and urn-inlaid marquetry panels to all sides, satinwood cross-banded and marquetry-inlaid central motif to top. Raised on box-wood inlaid tapering and faceted legs with box-wood inlaid Moorish-style arcading above . Fitted with one full-width oak-lined drawer with lock and key and fitted two opposing hinged cupboards to the frieze. The lower platform base with satinwood cross-banded inlay and box-wood strung edge. The octagonal top with moulded edges.
This rare form table takes it''s design influence from the highly-fashionable Moorish and Eastern taste of the period , but clearly English-made in a top quality cabinet-makers'' workshop.
Possibly by the likes of ''Collinson & Lock'' , ''Edwards & Roberts'' or ''James Shoolbred & Co.'' of London ,though unmarked or st...amped.
