Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian inkstand from c1910 combines a silver-plated elephant figurine, two circular glass inkwells with hinged brass caps, and a polished oak base with a moulded edge. The silver-plated elephant figure stands between the two glass inkwells, showing detailed modelling across its body and tusks, while the oak base presents a prominent grain pattern. Measuring 21 cm in height and 49.5 cm in width, the piece sits securely on a desk surface. Positioned on an office desk, this library accessory serves as both a practical writing instrument holder and a decorative centrepiece. The combination of silver, glass, brass and brown oak provides a traditional gentleman's study aesthetic. The inkstand is offered in very good condition with visible hardware details including the ridged glass bodies and threaded cap fittings on the inkwells.

Edwardian novelty desk accessories from the early 20th century frequently featured naturalistic animal figures, detailed metal castings, and polished timber bases combined with glass containers.

Pieces from this era commonly combined electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) or sterling silver with hardwood bases such as oak or mahogany, alongside heavy moulded glass reservoirs.

Authentic items typically feature maker marks or electroplate stamps, crisp casting details around anatomical features or motifs, and period-appropriate glass cutting or moulding techniques.

An antique inkstand serves as a focal accent on an executive writing desk, a styled bookshelf, or a credenza alongside leather-bound books and classic stationery.

Clean silver-plated components using a soft cloth and specialist silver polish, clean glass inserts with warm water, and nourish the wooden plinth with natural beeswax polish.
