Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large Regency style drum table is constructed from figured walnut and mahogany with a warm brown timber colour. The circular top incorporates an original mustard-coloured leather writing insert with blind tooling, framed by a moulded edge. Below, the frieze contains four drawers and four dummy drawers, fitted with circular brass ring handles on rosettes. The central turned pedestal column supports the top, resting upon four splayed quadruped legs that terminate in brass cup castors. The table stands 79 cm high with a diameter of 122 cm. In a home today, this substantial piece serves as a grand centre table in a study or library, offering functional surface space and drawer storage.

FAQs

A Regency drum table is a circular table originating in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, featuring a deep frieze fitted with drawers around its circumference. Supported by a central pedestal and splayed legs, these pieces served as writing desks or library tables in period interiors.

Antique drum tables were constructed from hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, often featuring figured veneer panels. The top surface frequently incorporates a tooled leather writing insert, complemented by cast brass handles and castors.

Authentic Regency drum tables feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the frieze drawers, original brass castors, and period-correct drawer linings such as oak or pine. Natural wear patterns on the revolving mechanism or central support pillar are also consistent with authentic age.

A large drum table functions effectively as a central focal point in a entrance hall or as a writing desk in a home office. Placing modern lighting or structured ceramics on the leather top creates a balanced contrast between historical craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Maintain the timber by applying beeswax polish along the grain twice a year, avoiding silicone-based sprays. The leather surface should be dusted with a soft, dry cloth and treated periodically with a dedicated leather conditioner to prevent drying.
