FAQs

Art Deco picture frames are defined by geometric shapes, clean lines, and metallic materials such as polished chrome, nickel, or brass. Emerging in the 1920s and 1930s, these designs often feature stepped pedestals, frameless glass inserts, and minimalist structures.

Art Deco frames typically combine metals like chrome-plated brass, silver plate, or steel with heavy sheet glass. Other common period materials include Bakelite, burr walnut veneers, marble, and mirror glass elements.

Authentic pieces feature sharp geometric casting, period-appropriate construction such as hand-soldered joints or slotted base plates, and natural wear or slight patination on chrome or silver surfaces consistent with age.

A chrome Art Deco frame functions well on a streamlined desk, sideboard, or mantelpiece. Its metallic lustre complements contemporary monochrome prints, architectural photography, or period portraiture.

Clean glass panes using a non-abrasive glass cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth. For chrome surfaces, use a gentle metal polish or a damp cloth followed by immediate drying to prevent water spots and oxidisation.
