Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1920 Art Deco oak dining set comprises a draw leaf table and four matching chairs, finished in a dark brown tone with a polished timber grain. The table has a stepped edge, a drawer leaf for adjustable length, and substantial bulbous legs with detailed floral leaf carvings resting on a sturdy shaped stretcher base. The four chairs feature high splat backs and cream patterned upholstered seat pads. Slight surface marks are visible on the table top, while the general all-round condition is good. The table measures 167 cm in fully open length, 104 cm in closed length, 84 cm in width, and 76.5 cm in height, and the chairs measure 90 cm in height, 50 cm in width, and 48 cm in depth with a 48 cm seat height. This practical and robust dining suite suits placement in a traditional or period-inspired dining room or kitchen space. The draw leaf mechanism allows the table surface to expand when hosting meals, and the four matching chairs provide coordinated seating for daily family use or entertaining guests. The oak construction offers enduring stability for regular placement in a domestic interior.

FAQs

Art Deco dining sets from the 1920s and 1930s typically combine solid wood construction with streamlined geometric lines, chamfered or stepped edges, and architectural details.

Dining furniture from this era predominantly utilised solid oak and oak veneers, paired with mortise and tenon joinery, carved bulbous supports, and patterned textile upholstery for seat cushions.

Authentic pieces often feature signature period details such as stepped edge mouldings, original extension mechanisms, geometric back splats, and hand-carved leg accents.

Pair dark oak pieces with neutral walls, low-pendant lighting, and metallic accents to highlight the timber tones while maintaining a balanced modern layout.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish along the grain twice a year, keeping the set away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
