EUROPE AND WORLDWIDE

Through our trusted international shippers we will source the most competitive quote for delivery to your door. All items are wrapped and packed by the specialist shippers.

We are happy to make initial arrangements for worldwide shipments on your behalf. However, please note that the shipping payment is made by you the customer directly with the shippers. The shipping contract is therefore between you the customer and the shippers (not Sturmans Antiques). Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Perpetual desk calendars originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as reusable office accessories designed to display the day, date, and month indefinitely via internal cloth or paper rollers controlled by external knobs.

These items were commonly crafted from native hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, featuring internal fabric or paper reels operated by side-mounted turned wooden pegs and housed within moulded timber frames.

Authentic pieces generally display period-appropriate joinery, natural wear around the adjustment knobs, original printed typography on aged paper or linen rolls, and historic timber patination consistent with frequent manual handling.

Position the piece on a home office desk, bookshelf, or mantelpiece alongside contemporary desk organisation tools to introduce texture, warm wood tones, and historic interest into modern working spaces.

Keep the timber surface clean using a soft dry cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly, avoiding liquid solutions or excessive force when turning internal roller mechanisms to prevent damaging the paper rolls.
